Creating folders for your pictures

At some point, you’ll likely have so many single pictures showing in the Photos app that navigating to a specific picture is difficult, if not seemingly impossible. When this happens, you’ll need to create subfolders to organize those pictures. Here you’ll create subfolders; in the next task, you’ll learn how to move pictures to these new folders.

Create folders

  1. While in the Photos app, click any Back arrows as applicable to return to the Home page.

  2. Right-click the screen, and click New Folder.

  3. Type a name for the folder.

  4. Click Create.

  5. Locate the new folder.

TIP

Create multiple subfolders with names that are representative of the pictures you need to organize, such as Travel, Pets, Friends, Children, and so on. You can then create subfolders inside those folders when desired.

TRY THIS

Right-click the Home screen of the Photos app, and click the Details View icon. The view will switch from Thumbnails view to Details view. In Details view, you’ll be able to see a very small thumbnail alongside the name of the picture file, the date it was taken, and its size. This also enables you to see more items on the screen at one time.
