Using Power View effectively

Power View is an amazing tool when it comes to get insights from data in a visual way. You normally start your investigation by putting some columns and calculated field into a table, then project the data into different charts until you get the visualization that makes the pattern you are searching for more evident.

At this point, you add more charts, drill-down, and use tiles and other analytical items to go into additional detail and, when you are finished, you will have created an interactive report that can be used many times to perform the same analysis on updated data.

Keep in mind that for the data model to be used in an efficient way in Power View, you need to pay attention to some small details. You will learn more about these in the next chapter, which covers several advanced topics about reporting with Excel.
